How Broad Should the Aims of Education Be?

Happiness and Education.
By Nel Noddings. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2003. 308 pp. Paper, $22.99.

This is a revolutionary book. If educators were to accept its premise and be guided by its arguments, those involved in educating children and youth (from preschool through college) would have to dramatically rethink what they need and want to accomplish with their students. They would restructure what they do in the classroom, not only the content but also the interactions they have with students.
