Book Review

Volume 119 • Number 2

Summer 2006

DOMINIC W. MASSARO, editor
University of California, Santa Cruz

Joint Cognitive Systems Task Design

Handbook of Cognitive Task Design
Edited by Erik Hollnagel. Hillsdale, NJ: Erlbaum, 2003. xxi + 808 pp. Cloth, $175.00.

Many people, beyond those working in human-computer interaction (HCI), ergonomics and human factors, or software engineering, will benefit from reading Erik Hollnagel's chapter 1, "Prolegomenon to Cognitive Task Design" (CTD). What it says in 11 pages is important. Also, I think he is right, as far as he goes.
