Re-Visioning Evolutionary Psychology

Evolutionary Psychology: Alternative Approaches
Edited by Steven J. Scher and Frederick Rauscher. Dordrecht, The Netherlands: Kluwer, 2003. 265 pp. Cloth, $99.95.

Ever since Darwin's The Descent of Man it has been possible to think in terms of an evolutionary theory of mind (Darwin, 1871). Nor did Darwin arrive at his view of the mind as an evolutionary adaptation only after marshaling evidence for common descent and developing the theory of natural selection; rather, engagement with the emergence of animal and human intelligence was part and parcel of Darwin's conceptual concerns from the 1830s (Keynes, 2001).
