Cohen's Fundamental Idea About Color

Visual Color and Color Mixture: The Fundamental Color Space
By Jozef B. Cohen. Champaign: University of Illinois Press, 2001. xxvi + 218 pp. Cloth, $39.95.

This book has two main ingredients: One is a comprehensive review and exposition of the life's work of its author, the late Jozef Cohen (1921-1995). Interspersed at appropriate points in this largely theoretical presentation are a number of sensitive observations about the history of color vision research.
